BIO / JESS HULME

Hi! My name is Jess, and I am a photographer drawn to atmosphere, emotion, and the quiet intensity found in in-between moments. My work lives in the space where romance meets shadow — capturing emotional and atmospheric weddings, intimate engagements, and deeply personal elopements with a cinematic, moody touch. I’m inspired by texture, architecture, candlelight, wild landscapes, and the kind of love stories that feel timeless and a little otherworldly.

Alongside documenting couples, I create fine art dramatic landscapes that explore mood, scale, and solitude. These personal projects allow me to experiment with light, movement, and storytelling more conceptually, shaping the way I approach every wedding and portrait I photograph. Whether I’m standing on a windswept cliff or in a candlelit cathedral, I am always searching for feeling first.

For me, photography is not just about documenting a day — it’s about preserving atmosphere, creating art from emotion, and telling stories that feel honest, darkly romantic, and unforgettable. I LOVE candid moments! I know I hate to pose in front of a camera, so why should you on your special day? I may help position you to achieve the best shots possible, but capturing genuine moments and smiles throughout the day brings me so much joy.

I am currently in my 3rd year at MMU, studying BA (Hons) Photography, and will graduate in the Summer. Apart from studying, I spend my free time outdoors as much as I can, hiking through hills and trees (with my camera, of course!), and when I’m not, I tend to have my nose in a book!
